St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) was a real person, a bishop of Lycia. He lived at the end of III - beginning of IV century.
Demre (Myra) - the city where he is buried - is in Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast.
Here in 60 AD Paul founded one of the first Christian communities (churches).
